Home of The Bookjay Readers – a systematic, decodable phonics series written for imaginative, wholesome readers.
With decoding being a vital skill, I found it difficult to source any truly decodable readers for my son. Everything required many sight words he didn’t yet have. He was desperate to read, but was unable to read the shelves and shelves of easy readers at the library that did not follow a systematic approach to phonics.
When he began to despair that he would never be able to read a real book, I knew I needed to take action!
Learning faster wasn’t the key.
Having more decodable readers at his level was the answer!
The video above shows an example of my 5 year old reading and correcting an error. This is the book that comes with his reading curriculum and only had one or two stories every few lessons. He was getting bored and feeling unaccomplished that he couldn’t read more than the one book.
Here is what makes The Bookjay Readers series special:
1. Repeating Characters – With fun, loveable animal characters, your child will feel like they are gaining friends as they follow the stories.
2. Fun Phonics – Following an explicit, systematic approach, including The Bookjay Readers in your home will bring a lively, fun, breath of fresh air to learning to read.
3. Read Right Away – As soon as your child knows just a handful of letter sounds and how to blend, they can begin practicing their skills in a real book!
4. Fun Games – Games and activities are included at the end of each book to provide additional practice and solidify phonics skills.
5. Adult Aids – Each book contains a letter sound page and guiding principles to help you and your reader on your journey to literacy.
“I love the stories and the animals, Mom! The bat is my favorite!”
